GIRLFRIEND OF THE MONTH!!!

Our girlfriend of the month, Pamela Ugbaja, is a final year student of Psychology at the University of Lagos and a social entrepreneur, who believes that the child-bearing period of a woman’s life is the most vulnerable, as well as the most valuable. Hence, she is committed to promoting a safe and purposeful motherhood.

Pamela has always been passionate about anything and everything! She spoke about her childhood in Kaduna, emphasizing that she was an advocate for ants, who loved acting and practically sang her family deaf (lol!).
She got her first job as a nursery school teacher shortly after graduating from secondary school and moving to Lagos. A year later, she joined as a volunteer and served as the Public relations officer in a youth organization, The Chosen Stones Mission International, which focuses on rehabilitating juvenile teens and inspiring school children. Through that organization, she was able to organize events at prisons for young boys, raise funds for Remand homes as well as organize school programs. From there she quickly moved to bigger things and worked with ace broadcaster, Soni Irabor, the pioneer of Soni Irabor Live at his company Ruyi Communications Limited for close to three years- all these she did before gaining admission into the University for her 1st Degree. Since she was never used to doing just one thing at a time, her early fascination about pregnancy, the birth experience, and motherhood gave birth to ideas that quickly turned into a call for service.
In 2007, as a freshman, she became the second Nigerian Coordinator for Postpartum Support International (PSI) and started Flora Initiative for mothers, to support new and expectant mothers suffering from Perinatal Mood Disorders.

Her work experience in diverse fields, and acquired knowledge as a student of psychology enabled the strong and directed personality, which she has used to support this foundation for more than three years.
At just 23, she is the CEO of ICARELLA Enterprises which offers a wide range of services to new mothers. From nanny services to physiotherapy, her company is truly designed in honour of mothers. She also practices as a child therapist alongside lecturing in antenatal classes.

Pamela writes music, plays the guitar and sings at events. Although her acting days are practically over, she now enjoys public speaking; and just like the favourite woman in her life, her mother, she is also passionate about teaching.
When asked her ultimate goal, she says "My ultimate goal is to slide into heaven soaked, dirty, and excited knowing I exhausted all my potentials in the wild adventure I've had on this earth!”
